Lies Hurt too!

Some Sundays back, we had quite an interesting day in class (children’s church). We had a discussion about Joseph and his liar liar brothers. lol. And myself and Anointing my colleague were almost in tears. Find out why….

After sharing the story of how Joseph’s brothers lied to their father about the death of his favorite son, we all collectively shared what we learnt from the story and Victor mentioned the fact that it was not good to lie so i decided to make the class bare out their minds as regards this. So i asked each person to share an experience where they had lied….

As we all shared we laughed at our foolishness and how we felt we were wise by lying to people just to get away with bad manners. Then Victor shared his story…

It was a day in class and his teacher found out that his seatmate’s water bottle was broken. She decided to ask the class who broke it as she believed it was fine when the girl brought it that morning. No one admitted and because he is the only boy in his class all the girls pointed accusing fingers at him. According to him, since everyone mentioned his name, he agreed with them that he was the one who broke it even when he never went near the bottle.

This made the teacher to flog and punish him simultaneously. He said he cried but he knew he wasn’t the one who broke it.

This got our eyes welled up in tears. How can such a small boy of 7 do this? Accepted accusing fingers when her was innocent? Really?

I would not have believed this story but Victor is naturally a quiet and no trouble-maker. He rarely even plays with his mates; he’s always on his own.

And the truth is he was hurt because they lied against him, yet he accepted to suffer for it…..

If you were the one, would you have suffered for someone else’ mistake?

Victor is the boy in my picture….
